Health Card renewal

My birthday is coming up in a month, which means time for card renewals....this year, both my health card and driver license will expire. Today during lunch, I went to get my health card renewed and it was such a pleasant experience that I want to share with you!

A month ago, I received a letter in the mail reminding me of the expiration date. Therefore, like any other responsible adult (haha...who am I kidding, I actually just dug the letter back out from my pile of junk mail this week!), I called the number given in the letter to book an appointment. I was able to get an appointment the next day during lunch time at a nearby branch.

When I arrived right on time, I was welcomed by a huge lineup (about 20 people). 'Great, how long will this take?' - thinking to myself.

Then I discovered a sign at the front that says: "If you have a scheduled appointment, please speak to the security officer." Making sure I was reading the sign correctly, I finally waved at the security officer to let him know that my appointment was at 12:45pm. Surprisingly, he just said: "Come with me." I was able to jump the line!!!!

I ignored the envious looks from the people in the line and got a numbered ticket. I couldn't believe I was the next number called!!! I went up to the counter, presented my documents, took a picture and was out of the branch in less than 10 minutes.

It was really a pleasant surprise and I highly recommend that next time if you have to renew your health card, be sure to call and book an appointment! This will save you a lot of time!
