I've been working a lot of OT lately, so today I got a day off as a treat. It was nice to just wake up knowing that I don't have to worry about traffic or what work is waiting for me in my inbox.
I woke up at 10:30am to get ready for my doctor appointment. The pain from the shingles has diminished, so that's a good sign. I felt really fresh, even though I slept at 3am last night doing work. When I went to see my doctor, she confirmed that the medicine I was taking helped and I was recovering very well (yay!). What a relief!
For lunch, I met up with 2 girlfriends from work. When I was driving from my doctor's office to Cora's, I suddenly realized how bad my road rage was. 'Why am I rushing?' I found myself releasing the gas pedal as that thought sits in my mind. As I slowed down, I started to enjoy the gentle breeze and the warm sun on my skin. I have to learn to relax. This is probably a major reason why I got shingles in the first place!
Lunch was wonderful. The food at Cora's is great. If you have never been there, I highly recommend it. It's a breakfast food place and you never run out of choices (good luck narrowing it down!). Of course, it's always nice to catch up with girlfriends and knowing that they are doing well and enjoying life.
After lunch, I really didn't have any planned at first. Then, one of my girlfriend offered to help me with my paper needs (I have to buy some special paper for our invitations), because her boyfriend owns a print shop. So, we headed over there and visited him. It was nice to visit his workplace and get to know him a bit more. We chatted a bit and I decided to leave (originally to go home and take a nap!).
When I was in the car, I remembered that there is a specialty paper place nearby - Paperland. I decided to drop by to take a quick look. Much to my surprise, I was able to find what I wanted! I bought some samples there. Side story - a couple was there and they wanted to see my invitation because it was exactly what they wanted! they were very interested in where I got it printed, but was disappointed to find out that I did it in HK and it costed way less than here. we chatted briefly and i wished them luck with their wedding and moved on my merry way.
I started to drive home and then realized that I didn't pay my financial advisor the tax filing fee, so I dropped by his office and paid it off. He introduced some new investment products to me and now I'm starting to think about the idea...
After meeting with him, I continued to drive home. When I got to 16th and Woodbine, I then remembered I had to go to the bank, so I did. After going to the bank, I then dropped by Petals (florist) in the same plaza and booked another appointment next week.
Whoa!! That's a lot done in 6 hours! By this time, it was around 4:30pm and I still managed to go home for a quick nap. It was very fulfilling to be able to run all these errands and enjoy the beautiful weather. This was just what I needed - a relaxing, simple day.
