On Sunday, my primary school friend Quincin had her birthday party at Toronto School of Circus Arts (http://www.torontocircus.com/) and we went to celebrate with her.
I've never heard of trapezing before...at least something that we can have access to anyways. When we got to the gym, there were lots of "swings", nets (for safety) and even those silk cloth that hang from the ceiling (like Andy Lau in his concerts)!!! It was really exciting to see all the equipment there!
I actually decided not to do the trapezing. Our wedding is 6 weeks away and I really can't risk getting hurt...Yusuf, on the other hand, love this stuff, so he was really longing for this experience.
The group was around 15-18 people and the instructor started off asking everyone to take turns hanging upside down on a static trapeze. It really looked hard, especially for people who are not that flexible. After that, the instructor asked everyone to take turns going up to a 2-storey high platform to try it on a real trapeze! omg....
I was soooo nervous watching everyone doing it. Now, it's Yusuf's turn. Of course I know he will do fine, but the unknown factor made me super nervous...
So, after just swing upside down on the trapeze, as if that's not enough, the instructor asked them to follow some simple instructions and people actually did some flips while letting go of the bar! It was amazing to watch! It's all about swing at the right time to catch the momentum. But talking is one thing and doing it is another!!!
The highlight was this last trick. A volunteer (from the fire department) climbed up another ladder and got onto another trapeze. Yup, you guessed it, everyone will try to swing from one trapeze to another trapeze! This was truly amazing to watch! My friend Quincin is surely a natural at this...together with Yusuf, they can form a circus! :P
I think this made me admire the people in Cirque du Soleil even more!!!
