Not your typical wedding

This weekend is a very busy weekend of us. We started off our weekend with a wedding banquet tonight. The groom is Yusuf's friend from university.

Why did I say the wedding is not typical? Well, it's because the bride is actually Korean. I was really looking forward to see some of the Korean traditions and maybe even some Korean traditional gown!

The bride started off wearing her beautiful bridal gown at the beginning of the banquet. She decided to do the bouquet toss early so that she can still be in her wedding gown. During the shark fin soup, she changed into the traditional Chinese gown (kwa) and toasted around all the tables. Then, after toasting all the guests, the groom changed into a traditional Korean gown.

It was just like 大長金﹗The groom's gown was light green and pink in colour, with silk material. There was a belt around his waist and tied with a big knot. Very nice! Soon later, the bride followed with a traditional Korean gown! I can't recall exactly what colour it was, I think it was a cherry pink...but it wasn't the same colour as the groom's outfit. I really was expecting the song '希望’ to be played when the couple walked around greeting the guests..haha..silly me :P

I learned that there is a Korean tradition of the groom has to piggy back the mother -in-law and walk once around the banquet hall. It was pretty interesting to see the Korean tradition and how it is different from the Chinese traditions that I'm use to seeing.

It was a great evening to start off the weekend!
