The little bump on my hand

Most of you know, I have a little 'bump' on the back of my right hand for several years already. It was only a few months ago through a colleague that I had any idea it was an abnormality.

I finally made an appointment to check it out. I got an ultrasound done on the bump and my doctor has confirmed that it is a ganglion cyst. It is formed from residue from a tendon inflammation, and the bump is mostly fluid. It is harmless and painless. My doctor gave me 3 options:

1. Leave it
2. Small surgery of extracting it through a needle
3. Bigger surgery to open up the skin and removing the cyst

I've decided to take Option 3. Although it's the choice will have more risk, it is also one that can get rid of the bump cleanest. I know someone who chose Option 2 and the cyst was still there after the surgery, so she finally had to take Option 3. I just want to do it once and get it over with!

Now, I'm waiting for my doctor to help me make an appointment with the hand surgeon. Will keep you posted!
