On Saturday, our fellowship got an opportunity to go plant trees for the environment at the East Don Parklands (Bayview and Cummer). We had made prearrangements with the government for them to bring the trees, shovels, bark mulch, and all other equipment. We arrived around 10am and all the little trees were already laid in a designated area in the park. We got a quick demo on the procedure and finally got started. The weather wasn't really cooperating, we got drizzle all morning long, but that did not kill our spirits. Altogether, we planted 400 trees and finished shortly after 12pm.
This is my little pine tree! During that morning, I planted 6 little trees all by myself :P
It was really fun!
Side Story: During tree planting, a guy left his shovel standing up in the soil and guess what? The handle fell right on my head!!! It made such a loud noise that people within a 30 ft radius heard it! In my head, it sounded it hitting metal! haha....I felt okay immediately after, but started to feel like vomiting in the afternoon. Then, I started to feel dizzy and couldn't concentrate on my work. I went to the doctor on Monday and took an x-ray. Looking on wikipedia, I might have suffered from a minor concussion...but don't worry, I'm okay now. Will go to doctor on Wednesday to follow up.
