Best Cake I've Had

Tonight was my first "political" experience. I was invited to attend a fundraising dinner for a candidate for Municipal Election 2006. Some members of the choir that I am in knows him personally, and want to sing a song to show support and I was the pianist.

The event was held at a Chinese restaurant at Times Square and it started roughly around 6pm. The dinner started around 8pm (I was severely starving) and during the dinner, there were different performances, speeches, even a magic show!!

At the end of the dinner, the candidate gave a thank you speech and had a simple cake cutting ceremony (doesn't it sound like a wedding?). Even though I was full from the 10-course meal, I gave the cake a try. It blew me away! The cake was so delicious...it was beyond words! It was a simple fresh cream and berries cake, but every morsel was so savory. Some tables even went for seconds or thirds!

I then wanted to find out who baked this cake. So I took a look in the event programme for the bakery name....it was from one of the chefs from Royal York Hotel!!! No wonder the cake tastes so good!

So, being the nozy wedding planner that I am, I called the hotel to see if they cater wedding cakes. Unfortunately, they do not cater wedding cakes outside of their venue...too bad.
