Day 1: NYC

Today was a funfilled day. Not to mention tiring.

So, Adrian and I started our day at 11am. We first took a stroll through Columbia University (Amsterdam Ave & 116 St) and the famous Central Park. It was a really gorgeous day today, I think the temperature was around 26-28 C. Our first 'destination' was to the Bouchon Bakery at Columbia Square (Central Park W & 59 St) where we enjoyed a delicious lunch. We had a grill cheese sandwich (grilled to perfection) and a juicy roast beef sandwich.

After lunch, we window shopped in the same building and started heading over to 5th Avenue South. 5th Avenue was such a fun walk, we saw all the big names like LV, Gucci, Farragamo, Tiffany's, Coach...one after another. I really enjoyed this relaxing 'shopping' where I'm not on a schedule to go anywhere, so whenever we got a little tired, we took a break by going into beautiful churches along 5th (St. Thomas and St. Patrick church). The churches were really beautiful. We then walked westbound on 50th Street to pass the Rockefeller Center (very briefly).

The next stop was Times Square. Times Square is actually at the intersection of Broadway and 42th St. It was a little disturbing to see how many billboard ads there are! It was quite a sight to see how many yellow cabs are on that street...We went into a cafe near Times Square and continued our merry way to another big attraction - Macy's.

Macy's is at 34th St & Broadway. It's a 8 storey building full of shopping. We couldn't really concentrate on every floor (we'll just have to camp out there to do that), so we focused on what's important - shoes!!! We were at the 5th floor and browsing for shoes. It's Memorial Day long weekend coming up, so the sales have already began. We saw a pair of shoes that were perfect for Adrian to wear with the maid of honour dress, but they only had a pair of demo left. So, we decided not to buy them since we are going to Woodbury Outlet on Sunday, if we really can't find anything on Sunday, we'll go back on Monday to buy these.

It was fun shopping at Macy's. There were more people buying than at 5th Avenue so there was more buzz. I wish I had more time there! (maybe not...)

After Macy's, it was time to go to the theatre district to check out last minute standing tickets. We settled on watching Chicago, so we headed there first (50th Ave & Broadway). Luckily, we got standing tickets! Btw, standing tickets are tickets you can buy 30 minutes before the show for $21.25 each and you stand in a designated spot for the show. We are okay with that, since it's for a great price.

A surprising thing for me was to see Chicago starring Joey Lawrence!!! I loved him in Dancing with the Stars by the way. I was excited to see him on a broadway show!

Chicago is a great story. I loved the movie a few years back. Loved the storyline. Loved the songs. Loved the dancing. Loved Joey Lawrence! Okay fine, he wasn't that great because he doesn't have a big voice for broadway, so at some parts, he was actually getting drowned out by the background singers. But he was still great! :)

To end the perfect day off, we headed to Korean town (32 St & Broadway) to eat bibimbab and seafood pancake (with tons of side dishes!). They even had a spicy crab side dish! It was so delicious!
